INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Malwa). Ujjain. Circa 2nd century BC. AE (Bronze, 15 mm, 4.70 g). Three-headed god (Brahma or Shiva) standing facing; to left, Chakra (sacred wheel) above fish-tank. Rev. Four double-orbed Ujjain symbol. Pieper 280. An unusually attractive example. Minor deposits and somewhat smoothed, otherwise, very fine.

The obverse of this coin shows either Lord Shiva, or Brahma, the god of creation, who is also known as Svayambhu ('Self-Born' in Sanskrit). Both deities are commonly depicted with three heads.
